The commercial market is more measured, yet resilient. Tenanted assets with secure income and redevelopment potential continue to attract enquiry. The approach in this cycle is not about chasing momentum, but about disciplined capital deployment into assets that will remain relevant well beyond the current rate environment.

The Port of Newcastle story began with the pursuit of a stolen government vessel. The pursuing Lieutenant, dispatched from Sydney to track the convict thieves, entered what is now the Hunter River and recorded extensive coal seams along the banks and a navigable harbour capable of supporting trade.

These observations established the foundations of Australia’s first commercial coal export port.
